dc.descriptionThe article examines the little-known piano works of the Ukrainian composer Mykola Dremliuha (1917–1998) from the first period of the artist’s work, which remained in manuscripts for a long time. The compositions impress with their skill, virtuosity, soul and sensuality, as well as their direct or direct connection with Ukrainian folk music. Composer Mykola Dremliuha belongs to the group of Ukrainian artists of the second half of the 20th century, whose creative heritage reflected various trends in Ukrainian and world music of that time. He continued the traditions started by M. Lysenko, M. Leontovych and L. Revutsky, and also contributed to the formation and development of certain musical processes in Ukraine. The artist was born on July 2 (15), 1917 (died on December 18, 1998, in Kyiv) in his mother’s homeland, in Sloboda Buturlynivka Voronezh province, just before the October coup. Leontovych. Love for Ukraine, musical art and folk art have always been a guiding principle in the upbringing of the Dremliuha family. M. Dremliuha received his musical education at the Kyiv Conservatory (1946) with two majors: composer and historical-theoretical, studying in the class of L. Revutsky, later defended his dissertation, engaged in teaching. Being a master pianist, M. Dremliuha wrote many works for this instrument. In 2024, the early piano works of the composer were published and are an important source of development of the artistic and imaginative thinking of the future music teacher in the process of instrumental training. Among them: Three preludes, Impromptu, Concert etude, Paraphrase on the theme of M. Lysenko’s freckle song “It’s already spring, and it’s already beautiful”, Foxtrot for piano 4 hands. The publication of the works is intended to bring to the concert stage and introduce into the scientific circulation and the pedagogical process the works that remained in a handwritten version in the composer’s family archive for more than eighty years. M. Dremliuha’s compositions for piano, both early and mature, are distinguished by their virtuosity, soul and sensuality, good knowledge of the features of the instrument, and bright features of the composer’s individual style. The piano texture of M. Dremliuha’s compositions is full of wonderful melodies in an artistic weave of virtuoso technical techniques (small finger technique, double notes, octave and chordal texture, jumping technique, martellato, tremolo, sudden changes and alternation of legato and staccato strokes, polyphonic texture and its multi-layering). They are always subordinated to the definition and support of the melodic canvas of the works, which will be a good source in the journey of the talented Ukrainian younger generation to the heights of piano performing art.uk_UA
