Посольські виступи Дмитра Палієва у парламенті Другої Речі Посполитої

Abstract

The article deals with critical speeches of Dmitro Paliyiv in Polish parliament in 1928 – 1930. It shows how he argued with Polish politicians and historians and stressed that the Ukrainians will fight for the restoration of Ukrainian state on the lands that were transferred to Poland. In his speeches D. Paliyiv constantly pointed out great state-formation potential of the Ukrainians who created a powerful Kyiv and Russ at the turn of the I-II millennium and whose traditions were taken over by the Galicia-Volyn state. It is stated that parliamentary speeches of D. Paliyiv were always politically acute as they concerned the important issues of national and cultural life of western Ukrainians. He is known to criticize educational and religious policy of the Polish government, protesting against destruction of Orthodox church in Kholm region and Volyn.

He angrily condemned chauvinistic stamps about the Ukrainians and the Ukrainian lands like «Malopolska», «Cresy», etc. He substantiated the appearance of such historical ethnonyms as «Rus», «Ukraine», «the Ukrainians» and found it necessary to develop a national school and the national cultural institutions like «Prosvita», «Ridna Shkola», without forgetting about the economical self-sufficiency of Ukrainian countrymen and develop Ukrainian cooperation like «Maslosoyuz» and «Silskiy Hospodar».

The deputy D. Paliyev repeatedly used inviolability to accommodate ambassadorial eyes in the different places of Pokuttia. He repeatedly incited the Polish government, called for the removal of Ukrainian lands from Poland and the creation of its own state.

The article states that the deputy Paliyev was not only a true representative of his district Kolomyia, but of the whole Galicia for whose freedom he bravely fought in1914 – 1920. Dmytro Paliyev was the typical representative of the Ukrainian national liberation movement of the first half of the ХХ century. His right-wing radical views were not always perceived by society, but they have always intensified social action against the invaders.
